SAM RUBIN GETS ROASTED, RECEIVES TOP HONOR AS REPORTERS AND BLOGGERS  VIE FOR RECOGNITION AT THIRD NATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALISM AWARDS

(HOLLYWOOD, CA) Reporters and bloggers from some of the nation’s powerhouse news and entertainment websites go head-to-head as finalists in the Third Annual National Entertainment Awards ceremony, Thursday, April 22 at 7 pm in the Steve Allen Theater in Hollywood.

Entries from Slate.com, theWrap.com, Huffingtonpost.com, and Freep.com are among the more than 50 print, broadcast and online finalists from across the nation who will vie for winners’ plaques in this Los Angeles Press Club competition.

Sam Rubin, entertainment reporter for KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles, will be given the top honor for his smart, often tough coverage of stars and movie glitz and glamour.  Rubin is only the second journalist to receive this honor. Last year, Wall Street Journal and KCRW film critic Joe Morgenstern accepted the award.

“Sam is one of the busiest entertainment reporters around,” says Los Angeles Press Club President Will Lewis. “His reports reflect an informed insight and carry a great deal of weight inside the show business industry and with the general public.”

Rubin will be roasted by his friends and colleagues who include screenwriter Stephen Mazur (“Liar, Liar”) and KTLA anchor Jessica Holmes.

KABC radio reporter Michael Linder will emcee the event. Linder was the creator and executive producer of “America’s Most Wanted.”
